At Torres Plaz & Araujo, we are convinced that positive change may be brought about if we all work together. We therefore have an active commitment to economic, social and environmental development in Venezuela, implementing Social Action programs that provide solutions to the communities in most need, to foster the social welfare that our country so desperately needs.
At TPA we consider ourselves social activists, as we believe in pro-bono services because we are certain that the practice of this activity may become a point of meeting of ideas and principles among those of us that offer them, and because we trust that offering such services fosters access to justice.
It has led our members to work together to provide free legal services to nongovernment organizations and nonprofit institutions, so that they may continue their commitment to strengthening the plans and activities for the benefit of our society.
Our team is convinced that by donating our time and knowledge to the construction of a better Venezuela, together we can help achieve an increasingly fair and balanced future.
The Venezuelan-American Friendship Association (AVAA) is a Venezuelan NGO whose mission is to promote and assist in the comprehensive education and formation of young Venezuelans, with a will to excel, to contribute to the sustainable development of our country.
Throughout its trajectory of over 70 years, AVAA has engaged in several proposals for corporate investment in education, benefitting hundreds of students of lesser economic means.
In 2014, Torres Plaz & Araujo had the opportunity to join the AVAA Excellence Program, allowing us to provide a scholarship for the Law Studies (2014-2015 term) of Ms. Vanessa Quintero, for her third year of studies in Law.
At TPA, we trust in this initiative and we are sure that AVAA, in collaboration with its allies from private companies, will continue to make a difference in the lives of many Venezuelan youths and their families.
In addition to the pro-bono work, TPA members actively and permanently contribute to the financing and development of social projects, making voluntary contributions to worthy initiatives such as the Voluntary Community Dividend (DVC).
The DVC is a private nonprofit organization, created in 1964 by Eugenio Mendoza and a group of Venezuelan businessmen, with the mission of channeling the collective efforts of private initiative to develop actions that improve the living standards of communities of scarce resources, through specific projects, and in alliance with communities, social development organizations, authorities and companies.
Give a Day is a program developed by the Voluntary Community Dividend organization to promote the culture of volunteering among Venezuelan companies and their workers interested in collaborating with Social Development Organizations and the communities.
Our Firm got involved in this rewarding experience in 2007, making donations to foundations and nonprofit organizations, and sharing experiences with children and youths of less than 18 years of age from associations such as the Friends of Children with Cancer Foundation, the Don Bosco Community Center and the Don Bosco-Sarría Home.
This type of activity calls for solidarity and commitment, but are actions that make a difference, as they make an impression on the hearts and minds of each participant, allowing them to continue to fight to achieve a better future.
For over 5 years, our Firm has worked to become an ecofriendly company, developing energy saving and paper recycling and saving plans.
Both measures have yielded benefits, as we have not only significantly reduced costs in these areas (we inform our employees of the benefits of such activities for the company and the environment on a yearly basis), but also have influenced our members to be more responsible and ecofriendly.
